Composite technologies enable obtaining materials with properties that no single material can have. Specific features can be achieved by permanently mixing two or more different materials. Nowadays, composites are very common and can be found in e.g. modern devices, vehicles, clothes and packages. In these applications mixes of polymers with glass or metals, laminates, multi-material films or fabrics are used. Due to this multi-material nature, the recycling process at the end of the product’s life is a difficult matter. Besides, left alone in the environment, they are extremely difficult to decompose and they can pollute the environment for hundreds of years.
Taking that into account, we look for non-standard solutions. We are innovative and not templated. We invent new methods of separating composite materials into components that are easier to recycle or use as raw material in other products. We often utilize existing methods used in the chemical industry (and elsewhere) and refine them to achieve a better result or use them for completely different purposes.
We talk to the client to understand their problem and needs. We make sure that the recycling process we develop meets the customer's needs while being efficient and environmentally friendly (it uses as little electricity, water and chemicals such as solvents as possible). At the same time, we are looking for applications of recyclates made from composite materials, i.e. finding out what new useful products can be made from them.
